The project “Construction of a multifunctional center with sports and cultural facilities for children in Pipirig commune, Neamț County” is a complex community development intervention designed to support children from vulnerable backgrounds and prevent poverty, social exclusion, and school dropout. Implemented in partnership between Pipirig Commune, as lead partner, and the SASTIPEN Association, the project combines the local administration’s capacity to develop infrastructure with civil society expertise in delivering integrated social services.
Funded through the European Social Fund Plus, in complementarity with ERDF, the project is aligned with the European objective ESO4.11 concerning the expansion of access to quality services for children from disadvantaged groups. Implementation began in July 2025 and has a duration of 64 months, of which 48 months are dedicated to directly delivering services for beneficiaries.
The local context shows limited access to educational and cultural opportunities and the presence of a significant number of children exposed to social vulnerability. The project aims to create a modern, accessible, and safe center that provides integrated services adapted to the real needs of the community.
The center will serve 260 children under the age of 18, including Roma children, through educational, cultural, and sports activities such as interdisciplinary and STEM workshops, artistic activities, reading clubs, sports programs, educational camps, and personal development activities. The project also includes counselling services for children and their families, socio-educational support, and community healthcare activities.
SASTIPEN contributes to implementing the social components, recruiting the target group, and delivering support and counselling services by drawing on its experience in working with vulnerable groups. The expected results include the operationalization of the center, increased participation of children in formative activities, the development of social skills, and the prevention of school dropout. In the long term, the project will contribute to reducing inequalities and creating a more inclusive community environment, with a lasting impact on children’s development and on the local community.
